IMPORTANT NOTICE

On November 25, we received devastating news: the Government of Canada has reduced by more than half the number of spaces available to sponsor refugees in 2026. As a result, the Diocese of Huron will also receive less than half the allocations we had expected and this number is fewer than what is needed to sponsor all the refugees already named by churches for next year. This means that at this point in time there will be no remaining spaces available to sponsor refugees through our lottery. We sincerely apologize for this deeply disappointing situation, which we had not expected. At this time, we also do not know whether a lottery will be possible in 2026 if allocations remain this low. We recognize that this news is difficult and understandably extremely disappointing.
